Indian Seafarers in the Black Sea
Five Indian seafarers have been killed since 18 July 2026 in attacks on merchant ships in the Black Sea, and on 27 July the Ministry of External Affairs summoned Ukraine's Ambassador to India to register India's protest. India has not taken a side on the war itself; its case is narrower and older - that commercial shipping and the civilian crews who run it must stay outside the fighting.
