Khelo India Scheme, 2026-31
Khelo India is the Centre's flagship sports development scheme, and on 31 July 2026 the Union Cabinet approved a much larger version of it for the five years to 2030-31, bundled with a stronger funding line for national sports federations. On 27 August 2026, two days before National Sports Day, the Prime Minister used a nationwide Khelo India Dialogue with young athletes to set out where that money should go: a talent hunt for children aged 5 to 15, and entry into Olympic disciplines India has never contested.
