Renaming Kerala as Keralam
Parliament has cleared the Bill that would record the State in the Constitution as Keralam, the form Malayalam speakers have always used: the Lok Sabha passed it on 11 August 2026 and the Rajya Sabha on 12 August. Nothing is renamed until the President assents.
