Consumer Protection in E-Commerce
India has tightened the rulebook for online marketplaces. The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, notified on 10 September 2026 and effective from 1 January 2027, go after manipulated search results, unlabelled paid listings, misleading discount claims and dark patterns.
