Census of India 2027
Census 2027 is India's 16th population census and the first run end to end on digital tools, conducted by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner in two phases: houselisting through 2026, then a headcount anchored to 1 March 2027. In his Mann Ki Baat broadcast of 27 September 2026 the Prime Minister said the first phase was nearly complete across all States and Union Territories, with data on more than 32 crore families recorded and over 2.6 crore people having enumerated themselves online.
