India at the 81st UN General Assembly
The 81st session of the UN General Assembly opened on 8 September 2026, and its high-level week is where India packs a year of diplomacy into a few days. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who reached New York on 20 September, spent his first working day on two events that had never been held before: a foreign ministers' meeting between India and the four Visegrad countries, and the opening summit of a multilateralism grouping India helped sponsor.
