Demographic Changes Committee (HLCDC)
The High-Level Committee on Demographic Changes (HLCDC) is a Ministry of Home Affairs panel, formed on 26 May 2026 under Justice (retd) Prakash Prabhakar Naolekar, to study population change that the government attributes to illegal immigration and other "abnormal" reasons, and to propose remedies. It is in the news because its chairman opened a web portal, demography.mha.gov.in, on 14 October 2026 so that governments, NGOs and individuals can send it inputs and data.
