EOS-05 — India's First GEO Imaging Satellite (GSLV-F17)
EOS-05 is India's first Earth-observation satellite built to work from geosynchronous orbit — about 36,000 km up, where a spacecraft circles at the rate the planet turns and so keeps one face of the Earth in permanent view. ISRO flew it on the GSLV-F17 rocket in the early hours of 4 September 2026, and the satellite is meant to feed near-real-time pictures into farming and disaster-response work.
