India's Public Grievance Portal (CPGRAMS)

CPGRAMS is the one place a citizen can complain to any arm of the Union or a State government and be told, on the record, what happened next. Standing for the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System, it now carries roughly 27 lakh grievances a year against about 3.01 lakh in 2014, and the average time a Central Ministry takes to dispose of one has fallen from 157 days to 14. An AI voice chatbot, Samadhan Didi, went live on 30 May 2026 so that a complaint can be spoken rather than typed.

Explains the portal that handles India's public grievances, and where it now stands. CPGRAMS gives citizens one 24x7 window into every Central Ministry and Department and all States and Union Territories: grievances have grown from about 3.01 lakh a year in 2014 to roughly 27 lakh in 2024, average disposal time in Central Ministries has fallen from 157 days to 14, and guidelines issued in August 2024 cut the redressal deadline from 30 days to 21 with a 30-day appeal to a Nodal Appellate Authority. The AI voice chatbot Samadhan Didi launched on 30 May 2026, and a NextGen rebuild is under development.
