India's World Heritage Sites and Tentative List
The UNESCO World Heritage List is the register of cultural, natural and mixed properties kept under the World Heritage Convention of 1972, and India has 45 properties on it with a Tentative List of candidates waiting behind. On 29 September 2026 the government said five more sites had joined that Tentative List, four of them in Madhya Pradesh, taking it to 78.
