India-UK CETA in Force
The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) goes live on 15 July 2026, turning a deal three years in the making into working commerce between the world's 4th and 6th largest economies. Signed in London in July 2025 after fourteen negotiating rounds, CETA scraps UK duties on almost 99% of India's exports from day one, opens 137 UK services sub-sectors, and switches on alongside a Double Contribution Convention that spares Indian professionals from paying social security twice. Both capitals want bilateral trade, about USD 56 billion today, doubled by 2030.
