Gyan Bharatam: India's Manuscript Heritage Mission
Gyan Bharatam is a Ministry of Culture mission, formally launched in September 2025, to survey, conserve, digitise, translate and open up India's handwritten manuscript heritage, building on the National Mission for Manuscripts of 2003. It is in the news because the Ministry signed an MoU with the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris on 26 October 2026 to digitise Indic-origin manuscripts held in that library and share them through the Mission's National Digital Repository.
