India took the BRICS chair on 1 January 2026 - its fourth turn - under a theme that spells out the bloc's own name, and is running a full ministerial calendar toward the 18th summit, now fixed for Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 12-13 September 2026, in the year the grouping turns twenty.
