RoDTEP — Export Duty Remission
RoDTEP, the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products, is India's WTO-compatible replacement for MEIS: it gives exporters a transferable customs credit for the central, state and local levies that stay buried in an export's cost because GST refunds and input-duty exemptions never reach them. It is in the news because a Department of Commerce notification dated 30 September 2026 kept the scheme running until 31 December 2026 for domestic tariff area exporters, Advance Authorisation holders, SEZ units and EOUs, with rates and value caps frozen at their 30 September level.
