MPMS: India's Incentive for Making Mobile Phones
The Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) is a ₹62,500 crore, five-year incentive programme approved by the Union Cabinet on 15 July 2026. It aims to scale up India's mobile phone output, deepen local value addition and grow home-grown handset brands as the earlier PLI scheme winds down. In September 2026 the Electronics and IT Secretary put India's output at about 32-33 crore phones a year.
