India-US 10-Year Defence Framework
On 31 October 2025, on the margins of the ADMM-Plus in Kuala Lumpur, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signed a fresh ten-year Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership, the third such decade-long charter after 2005 and 2015. It sets policy direction for the whole relationship - joint production, interoperability and emerging tech - even as a bruising 2025 tariff war over India's Russian oil imports tested how far strategic convergence can stretch against India's insistence on strategic autonomy.
