Consumer Price Index (CPI) & Retail Inflation
The Consumer Price Index measures how the retail prices households pay change over time, and its year-on-year movement is India's headline retail-inflation number. The series is now compiled on a revised base year of 2024=100. For June 2026, MoSPI put headline inflation at 4.38% — up from 3.93% in May — with food inflation rising to 5.32%.
