C-295 - First Made-in-India Military Transport
The C-295 programme delivered a genuine landmark in 2026: the first military transport aircraft assembled by a private Indian company was rolled out and took to the air from the Tata-Airbus Final Assembly Line at Vadodara. Under a Rs 21,935-crore deal signed in 2021, 16 of the 56 aircraft arrive ready-built from Spain while 40 are put together in India by Tata Advanced Systems - the country's first privately run military-aircraft line and a working template for Make in India in defence aerospace.
