Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is the Centre's hospital-care pillar: it settles bills for specialist and advanced treatment up to ₹5 lakh a family each year, with no cash at the counter. Eight years after launch, roughly a third of India's people hold an Ayushman card and the scheme has paid for 13.25 crore hospital stays.
