Modified UDAN, the ten-year, Rs 28,840-crore relaunch of India's regional-flying scheme, added a vivid milestone on 16 July 2026 when Alliance Air flew the first service from NAMO Airport in Daman, giving the Union Territory its first direct air link, to Delhi. Launched on 4 July 2026 and running to FY2035-36, the fully Centre-funded package promises 100 new airports built from disused airstrips, 200 modern helipads, viability-gap subsidies to keep thin routes alive and a small push for Indian-made aircraft. It builds on nine years in which the original UDAN, from 2016, opened 679 routes and carried over 1.68 crore passengers.
