Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses

India is at once the world's largest producer, consumer and importer of pulses, and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses is the government's push to close that import gap. Announced in the 2025-26 Budget, cleared by the Cabinet on 1 October 2025 and launched by PM Modi on 11 October 2025, the Rs 11,440 crore, six-year mission (running to 2030-31) trains its firepower on tur, urad and masoor. Its headline promise is assured buying: NAFED and NCCF will procure 100% of these three pulses at the minimum support price for four years, backed by a certified-seed pipeline, 1,000 new processing units and a target of raising output to 350 lakh tonnes. The stated ambition is full self-reliance in pulses by December 2027.
