PM-KUSUM & Agri-Photovoltaics

PM-KUSUM is the Centre's flagship push to solarise Indian agriculture through three tracks: grid-connected solar plants on farm land, standalone solar pumps for off-grid fields, and the solarisation of existing electric pumps. Run by the renewable energy ministry, it targets 34,800 MW of solar capacity. More than 10 lakh standalone pumps are installed and over 13 lakh grid pumps solarised; the government is now readying PM-KUSUM 2.0, headlined by a proposed 10 GW agri-photovoltaics component that would let a farmer grow crops and generate power on the very same plot.
