NFHS-6 - India's Health & Family Snapshot

Released by the Health Ministry in May 2026, the sixth National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6) reads India's health, nutrition and demographic vital signs as they stood in 2023-24 - and records steady, broad gains since 2019-21. More than nine in ten babies are now born in health facilities, childhood stunting has dropped sharply, and household health-insurance cover has vaulted past 60%. Set beside the Registrar General's SRS 2024 report, which fixes national fertility firmly below the replacement mark, the two surveys together show a country stabilising its numbers even as a non-communicable-disease burden climbs.
