NCRB Crime in India 2024
The National Crime Records Bureau's flagship Crime in India 2024, released in May 2026, shows overall registered crime down about 6 percent even as cybercrime crossed one lakh cases for the first time, up roughly 18 percent. It is the first full year of data under India's new criminal codes, and reading it well means grasping what NCRB counts - registered crime, not actual crime.
