India's First Household Travel Survey (NHTS)
The National Household Travel Survey (NHTS) is the first all-India survey of how household members travel: the mode they use, why they travel, how long a trip takes and what it costs. MoSPI's National Statistics Office ran it from July 2025 to June 2026, and its first factsheet, released on 5 October 2026, shows two-wheelers moving the most workers and buses carrying most overnight household journeys.
