National Cooperation Policy 2025

The National Cooperation Policy 2025, unveiled by Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on 24 July 2025, is only the second national policy the sector has ever had - the first dated to 2002 - and the first since the Ministry of Cooperation was carved out in 2021. Framed around six pillars, 16 objectives and 83 action points, it hands the cooperative movement a 2047 horizon under the banner 'Sahkar se Samriddhi', prosperity through cooperation: treble the sector's share of GDP by 2034, draw 50 crore Indians into active membership, and seat at least one cooperative in every village - while pushing cooperatives into fresh trades from insurance to ride-hailing.
