NAMASTE Scheme (Mechanised Sanitation)

NAMASTE — National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem — is the Social Justice Ministry's scheme to make sanitation work safe, mechanised and dignified. Launched in 2023-24, it aims to bring deaths in sanitation work down to zero and to end direct human handling of faecal waste. Its third anniversary is marked on 14 July 2026 as NAMASTE Day, with the main event at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata.
